They provide key ecosystem services such as improved soil health (manure as fertilizer), tightening nutrient cycles (returning nutrients back to the soil through manure, reducing waste and leakage) and stimulating vegetation growth (through their movements across land surfaces).  

Healthy, well-managed soils are an important part of regenerative agriculture and the circular economy.
