Livestock is the fastest growing agriculture sector in Africa. Africa’s population,
which is currently estimated to be around 1.2 billion, is projected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050. By then, the demand on the continent for meat is expected to quadruple and the demand for milk to triple.

Yet investments from both commercial, private and public are dramatically less than needed to meet expected demand and ensure sustainable production. It is critical to understand who is currently investing (and not investing) as well as the constraints and opportunities. With this in mind, AgThrive, Gatsby Africa and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), with funding support from Gatsby Africa and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, carried out a study on livestock investors in Kenya.

The study assessed 100+ investors (impact investors, development finance institutions and commercial banks) for their appetite and interest areas in livestock investing in Kenya. Participating in the webinar will provide you with valuable insights on who is investing, what they are investing in and the challenges and barriers they face to livestock investing. The webinar will support innovators and businesses with information on types of funders and funding mechanisms and the fundraising process.

This webinar will share the findings and provide advice to innovators and businesses on accessing finance.

The webinar is targeted to all livestock innovators and businesses with financing needs including entrepreneurs currently operating businesses, innovators with new business ideas and researchers and development practitioners seeking to scale their innovations through business partners.
